Beauty from Ashes Design

Interior Design of the Home & Soul

When life burns down the plans you made, your home can become the place you rebuild — softer, stronger, and truer to who you're becoming.

01 — Our Story

Every remodel gets messier before it gets beautiful

So does every life. Divorce, an empty nest, the loss of someone you love, a family that suddenly looks different than you planned — these seasons tear rooms apart in more ways than one. The house gets divided. The traditions change. The space you once called home can start to feel like someone else's.

Beauty from Ashes Design exists for exactly that moment. I've walked through it twice myself, and I learned something the hard way: the rebuilding of a home and the rebuilding of a soul follow the same process. Both need a vision of what could be. Both get messier in the middle. And both, given warmth and intention, become something stronger than what stood before.

After the great fires in Yellowstone, the ash itself became the fertilizer for a new generation of growth. That's the heart of this studio — not covering up what happened, but letting it feed what comes next.

Your home can be part of your healing.

02 — Two Kinds of Interior Design

The home, and the soul

Everything here runs on one simple parallel: the way you'd design a room is the way you can rebuild a life. Two tracks, one journey.

Track One

Design of the Home

Warm, restorative spaces shaped around how you actually live now — a soft place to land after a hard season.

  • Full design services, from refresh to renovation
  • Creating a refuge in a rental or borrowed space
  • Redesigning around memories and triggers
  • Rooms that feel like a hug, not a showroom
Track Two

Design of the Soul

The same design process, turned inward: envision, clear out, rebuild. Practical tools for becoming who you want to be next.

  • “I Am” statements — identity, designed on purpose
  • A bucket list independent of anyone else's choices
  • Navigating holidays, anniversaries & hard days
  • Resilience rooted in faith and timeless principles

Spaces with stories

Every project here began as a next chapter for someone. Open the booklet and walk through.

More stories on the way —
each new project is added here as its chapter closes. Yours could be next.
04 — Design Services

Three ways to begin

Every project starts with a conversation about how you live, what you've been through, and how home should feel now. Choose the scope that fits this season.

Tier One

The Fresh Start

A one-room refresh

New rug, art, pillows, lighting, and one or two anchor pieces — a fast, affordable facelift that makes a space feel like yours again. Perfect for rentals and new beginnings.

Tier Two

The Refuge Room

One full room, reimagined

A complete redesign of the room that matters most right now — often the bedroom or living room. We design it around rest, warmth, and the person you're becoming.

Tier Three

The Sanctuary

Main living areas

Kitchen, great room, and the heart of the home — a full transformation of the spaces where your family's new chapter will actually be lived.

A housewarming gift, in the truest sense —
design projects can be gifted to someone you love who's starting over. Every client project ends with a signature framed print, stamped with our mark.
05 — Courses & Community

Rebuild from anywhere

Not everyone needs a designer in their living room. The Home & Soul courses bring the whole approach to you — short, practical, and made for real (messy) life.

The Renter's Refuge

How to create warmth and sanctuary when you can't paint the walls, change the carpet, or knock anything down — apartments, basements, and borrowed spaces included.

Designing Around Triggers

Staying in a home that holds hard memories? Learn to reclaim rooms, rework the corners that ache, and make peace with a space you thought you'd share forever.

“I Am” by Design

You'd never design a room without deciding how it should function. This course applies the same intention to identity — declarative statements that support who you're becoming.

The Unshared Bucket List

Dream again — independently. Build a vision board and bucket list that don't depend on anyone else's choices, so the holidays and the future belong to you again.

Pre-Launch Group

The first courses are opening soon — to a small, private group of women rebuilding after divorce. Pre-launch members get a significant discount in exchange for honest feedback.

06 — Free Guide

The Home & Soul Parallel

A free guide to the five stages every remodel — and every rebuilding life — moves through, and how to know which stage you're standing in. The “what” is my gift to you; when you're ready for the “how,” the courses will be here.

No noise, no pressure — just the guide and an occasional letter from the studio.

07 — About Katie

Hi, I'm Katie

I'm a designer who believes rooms shape rest, and rest shapes people. I've spent years helping families make homes beautiful — but it was walking through my own seasons of ash that taught me what design is really for.

Twice I've had to rebuild a home and a life at the same time. From a basement with brown-on-brown-on-brown walls I couldn't paint, I learned to create refuge anyway — and to design a soul the same way I'd design a room: with vision, honesty, and hope that what's coming can be more beautiful than what burned.

That's what I want for you. Whatever brought you here — I'm so glad you came.
